The British Consulate General in Amsterdam is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking for a Consular Operations Analystfor the Consular team.
The main purpose of this role is to coordinate the business planning, operational performance analysis and operations of the Wider Europe Consular network comprising 70 British consular teams across Europe and Central Asia. To coordinate communicating with the network and motivating staff, in support of the Consular Regional Operations Managers and Consular Regional Director. The Wider Europe Network Team are based in Amsterdam and Madrid though we would look at an application to do this job remotely from another accessible European country; the salary and terms and conditions vary across our missions, and would be set locally subject to that mission’s approval.

Main Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Monitor delivery against the regional business plan, gathering evidence of our consular impact from all posts and preparing for quarterly reviews. Monitor and forecast risk and changes to the environment and customer behaviour and work with leadership team to mitigate and address them.  With support from the board secretary, preparing issues and agenda for biannual Europe Board of Management;
  • Communications lead for EuroAsia consular network, collaborating closely with Influencing team and Consular Communications, as well as the Regional Operational Managers to ensure the consular teams are aware and able to respond to business needs, change and are fully informed;
  • Oversee the implementation of a consular innovation initiative (Consular Pro) across the wider network, supporting consular officers delivering pilot projects and larger-scale improvement initiatives, supervising two volunteer coordinators in the roll-out of the scheme across the year;
  • Work with colleagues in London and the wider network to monitor and quality-assess our staff’s use of existing digital tools, casework and prevention planning systems, providing analysis from management information. Work to coordinate ensure basic compliance, data quality monitoring and evaluation, training and updating where required and lead the implementation of any new system;
  • Support the Consular Regional Directors and Network Team in delivering events, response to crisis, reviews of resources and ad hoc projects.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken);
  • Experience of drawing conclusions from data analysis and management information and implementing improvement based on that;
  • Forecasting and managing risk;
  • Proven experience in communication – interpersonal, presentations, written communication proven across wide audiences;
  • Confident in use and manipulation of data to make an argument or support a proposal;
  • Use of social media and digital tools for business.
  • Consular experience;
  • Experience working and managing remotely;
  • Public service / government experience;
  • Office/ network management experience;
  • Events management and IT expertise;
  • Experience managing others, ideally managing remote teams.

In addition to the base salary, an 8% annual holiday bonus and a monthly travel allowance are payable. The Consulate currently applies a performance based pay model for locally engaged staff.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in The Netherlands. Please note that the Consulate is not a tax withholding employer. Consequently staff members are responsible for paying their own  income tax and social security on the gross salary received.
The successful candidate will undergo a professional background check, Any job offer is provisional to a successful security clearance check.
