The Outgoing High Commissioner of Kenya to Nigeria, Ambassador Tom Amolo, has said that the several agreements concluded with the Chinese government during the President Muhammadu Buhari visit to China, would have a huge and positive impact on the economic relations between Kenya and Nigeria.
Speaking in an interview with The Guardian he said: “It will open a new vista in Kenya economic relations with Nigeria. We are looking at it very closely to see what impact it will have in our economic relations.”
He said that during his three-year tenure in Nigeria he has been able to improve the bilateral ties between Kenya and Nigeria.
“We have now created a Kenya- Nigeria Agro Business Forum and a Kenya- Nigeria Business Council. These institutions are very important now because of the security challenges posed by Boko Haram.”
He recalled that in January, President Buhari paid a visit to Kenya and he assured the Kenyan people that in their struggle against terrorism, they were not alone.
Amolo said that Nigerians could now receive visas upon arrivals in Kenya. He further added that direct flights from Nairobi to Abuja with Kenya Airways were now possible. Lagos to Nairobi already has two flights daily and fourteen flights weekly.
