Main purpose of job:
  • To print visas as required by UKVI, ensuring that they are accurately completed and issued in line with guidance and best practice maintaining accurate records where necessary
  • To ensure that integrity of the Visa Writer function is as per best practice
  • Helping UKVI minimise abuse in the visa process
  • Updating databases when necessary
  • Helping in all areas of the visa department by taking on a variety of clerical roles as required.

Roles and responsibilities:
  • Printing pasting and embossing vignettes into passports – Ensuring vignettes are placed accurately in passports and with speed. Prioritising urgent applications and informing appropriate staff when they are ready. Processing all applications within 24 hours of receipt from the Entry Clearance Officer (ECO) 60%
  • Recording of Errors – To check visas issued against the criteria authorised by the ECO and advise of any errors by recording these on error sheets and passing to the Data Processing Centre team leaders to measure performance 15%

  • CCTV checks – To check CCTV footage from visa application centres on a daily basis and to keep a record of applications on a spreadsheet to manage and monitor the integrity of the process 5%
  • Process Monitoring - Monitoring the volume and flow of work through visa writers, identifying bottlenecks or the need for additional resources. 10%
  • Packing issued applications ready for dispatch and changing the status on Proviso to dispatched.10%
  • Good communicators with exemplary written and spoken English
  • Fully IT literate with proven experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Patient and polite with good interpersonal skills
  • Team players, able to meet tough deadlines
  • Organised, flexible and adaptable
  • Able to present a positive and professional image of the section trough their attitude, approach and appearance
  • Able to work quickly and reliably with little supervision and meet challenging targets
  • Knowledge of UK Immigration Rules
