Security Guards
Main purpose of job:
To assist PSO (Post Security Officer) on all security matters and lead on all security works/ activities.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day to day security operation of the British Embassy.
- Provide security advice to Head of Mission and senior staff.
- Manage and lead on training programme for locally employed guard force in line with Security Directorate procedures.
- Complete residential security surveys on all UKB properties. Report recommendations to the Estates team and ensure completion prior to staff occupancy.
- Ensure PSR’s and Guards orders are regularly reviewed and updated as and when changes occur.
- Act as Fire Safety Manager for British Embassy, ensuring fire safety plans are up to date, accurate and regularly updated. (This will require specialist training)
- Perform fire and Voice alarm system test weekly, notifying the CS Team of any issues regarding malfunctioning equipment.
- First point of contact for all security queries, investigations, recording and reporting of security incidents and breaches
- Liaison with local authorities, police, other missions and security companies
- Conduct induction and security briefings for all new members of staff and medium term visitors. Issue security badges for staff and official visitors.
- Provide a short written security briefing to short term visitors.
- Oversee and ensure a professional, efficient, and approachable security team, maintaining a high level of customer service to staff and visitors at all times
- Supervise the security teams at the Embassy, Residence and other UK-based accommodation, ensuring the security team are fully conversant with their post orders
- Ensure that all security procedures are rigorously implemented including mail scanning, searches and patrols.
- Conduct routine security administration of LE guards during normal working hours.
- Insure all security related equipment and working areas are kept to a high standard of cleanliness and safety and ensure all defects are reported.
- Conduct induction/initial training for all new/temporary members of the security team.
- Actively maintain the confidentiality of information to which you will be privy, be this around individuals or security sensitive information in relation to the Embassy, accommodation and personnel.
- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the ROSM/PSO.
- Take part in regular crisis management drills and exercises.
- Lead regular security themed drills and exercises e.g. Bomb, incident etc...
- Conduct adhoc out of hours checks on the security team.

- Experience in security or similar role
