Main purpose of job:
The primary purpose of the role is to assist the Counter Fraud Officer based in Accra by carrying out assessments and checks on complex, British passport applications received in the UK from West Africa and other countries that fall within CFC Accra catchment. The successful candidate will have to consistently meet targets for quality efficiency and customer service.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain a good relationship with local government officials and other key stakeholders in order to assist in the verification of documents submitted within the passport application.
- Arrange DNA testing and collate information as and when required
- Prepare comprehensive assessments on passport applications for approval by Counter Fraud Officer (CFO).
- Set up and maintain clear and concise electronic records of referrals received and checks carried out.
- Prepare assessments/information packages for HM Passport Offices in the UK
- Deal with all passport related activities (including correspondence from members of the public) as per HMPO Policy
- Carry out interviews with applicants as and when required
- Assist with any other passport related work as directed by CFO.
- Be familiar with the HMG environment and have passport, visa and/or consular experience and some form of fraud training
- Must have excellent IT skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and initiative
- Good customer service skills coupled with an ability to handle difficult customers
- Ability to work under pressure
