Communications, Press and Media
The British Embassy’s Press and Public Affairs (PPA) Team leads the France Network’s communications activities by creating and rolling out campaigns which effectively deliver the Ambassador, the policy sections and the consular team’s messages via press, digital, social media and public diplomacy channels. We are looking for an experienced communications professional to take the lead role in overseeing  PPA’s digital communications and strategic campaign project management, as well playing a role on press,  public diplomacy and crisis communications.
Roles and Responsibilities
Campaigns (25%): Work hand-in-hand with the Head of PPA in managing Embassy priority communications campaigns, working closely and advising the relevant teams to ensure a seamless relationship between policy and communications. Planning, delivering and measuring impact of those campaigns. Responsibilities include liaising with policy sections and updating PPA’s forward-look roadmap.
Digital (20%): Leading on the roll-out of the Embassy’s digital strategy as part of the overall communications strategy. Responsibilities include overseeing the English and the French language versions of the Embassy online presence; monitor visitor statistics and impact reports; introduce innovative ways of attracting new traffic to the site through social media; and including forms of marketing such as the development of online partnerships. Work on ensuring digital best practice in other areas of the Embassy by transferring skills and knowledge and spotting opportunities.
Content (20%): Ensure the Embassy is producing quality content, both written and visual. The successful application would be expected to do this themselves and by working with other teams, motivating colleagues to provide a regular flow of new content publicising the work of the Embassy and the FCO. For example planning and delivering an effective multi-media blog for the Ambassador.
Public Diplomacy (15%): Contribute to the successful delivery of Embassy-wide public diplomacy projects and advise colleagues on the best use of communications to support and promote Embassy objectives. Designing publicity materials and invitations for events.
Press (20%): Working with the rest of the team to ensure messages are effectively delivered to journalists via appropriate channels whenever needed and in creating the daily press review. 
Project management
• Track record in creating and managing multimedia communications campaigns with press, digital and social media dimensions.
Content
• Excellent writing and editorial skills including drafting summaries in French and English;
• Proven technical skills in creating audio-visual content for use on websites and social media as well as relevant multimedia software (Photoshop, iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Audacity etc.).
Digital
• Ability to define social media strategies to promote Embassy campaigns and advise and accompany the ambassador and policy sections in rolling out the campaign over multiple channels (website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn);
• Firm knowledge of emerging online trends, influencers and social media networks and willingness to pioneer their use within the Embassy;
• Experience managing websites (please give examples of any websites you created and/or managed).
• Interest in international relations and in particular French and British current affairs;
• Experience in team and budget management;
• Strong knowledge of French and British press and online media;
• Experience in handling media around crises.
