The British Embassy, Dubai has a vacancy for a Regional Consular and Crisis Coordinator; Grade B3 (L)position.

Objective:

The main purpose of this role is to coordinate business planning and financial performance analysis and crisis response capabilities of the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MENASA) Consular network comprising 100+ consular teams across the MENASA region. To co-ordinate internal communicating with the network, promoting wellbeing and motivating staff, in support of the Consular Regional Operations Managers and Consular Regional Director.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of MENASA network budgets and finances. Promotion of best practice and financial management leadership. Provision of quarterly reporting and analysis to Consular Regional Director (CRD). Consolidating annual budget returns and budget bids.
  • Rapid Deployment Team (RDT) Manager and Regional Resilience Network co-ordinator. Promotion of MENASA RDT and provision of resilience support (deployments) to consular teams across MENASA network. Ensuring effective deployment and equipment capabilities to respond to crisis events across MENASA region. Close co-ordination with MENASA consular posts and Crisis Management Department (CMD) in FCO, London.
  • Network event management and promoting MENASA Well Being and best practice; developing and sharing Project & Programme Management skills and experience in support of prevention and communications work and Consular Programme Fund (CPF) activity across the MENASA region.
  • Power User for MENASA SharePoint site, working closely with Network Development and Communications Officer based in Kolkata; internal network communications lead.
  • Line Management of Deputy Regional Consular & Crisis Co-ordinator (DRRC).
Essential:
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Experience of drawing conclusions from data analysis and management information and implementing improvement;
  • Forecasting and financial trend analysis;
  • Proven experience in communication – interpersonal, presentations, written communication proven across wide audiences;
  • Confident in use and manipulation of data to make an argument or support a proposal;
  • Insight into organisational wellbeing best practices and adaptation.
Desirable:
  • Consular Experience
  • Experience working and managing remotely
  • Experience managing others, ideally managing remote teams.
  • Public service / government experience;
  • Project & Programme Management knowledge and experience
  • Office/ network management experience;
  • Events management and IT expertise (MS Office);

Working Hours and Salary

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: salary of AED 14,957 per month inclusive, Grade B3(L); performance bonus, five weeks’ vacation per annum, free on-site parking and free access to on-site swimming pool, gymnasium and sports facilities.

Standard working hours are from 7.30am to 2.30pm on Sunday to Thursday, with flexible starting and finishing times. Successful candidate will be expected to travel across the MENASA region. Demands will be occasional but essential for network operations.

Eligibility

The successful applicant will be required to obtain the necessary security clearance. Higher clearances can be granted only to certain nationalities. For this reason, candidates must be of British, American, Australian, Canadian or New Zealand nationality in order to gain the level of clearance required.
